Gig: Toto

Toto - first time in NZ!!!

Toto - first time in NZ!!!

On March 2, 2008 at The Civic Theatre in Auckland, the legendary TOTO will perform live, for their first time ever in front of New Zealand audiences, as part of their 2007 – 2008 ‘Falling In Between Live’ World Tour.

This will be a special evening for fans and the band alike!

By now you know the history and the hits, (if you don’t, just check out the bands official and in depth website www.toto99.com). The band was built from its inception on solid friendship and musical camaraderie that started 30 years ago and has been like no other, either past or present.

TOTO’s seven Grammy Awards – (and that’s not counting the Grammy’s held by them as individual solo artistes) – has seen the band clock up over 30 million sales worldwide!! Plus all of the members of TOTO still have successful solo careers.

Besides the familiar hits such as ‘Hold The Line’, ‘Rosanna’, ‘Africa’, ‘Georgy Porgy’, ‘I’ll Be Over You’, ‘Pamela’, and ‘I Wont Hold You Back’, anyone who gets to experience this rare New Zealand show will be blown away by the bands perfect pitched sound, impeccable musicianship and infectious stage presence.

Gig: Ween NZ Tour 08

Ween - NZ Tour 08

Ween - NZ Tour 08

Ten years. TEN BLOODY YEARS we've been waiting - for the return of Pennsylvania-via-New Jersey's finest export since the Amish rocking chair, WEEN.

Just think.. since that time, WEEN have released four gloriously deranged studio albums (including the most recent La Cucuracha), between them, featuring such stone(r) cold classics as Flutes of Chi, Hey There Fancypants, Gabrielle, Friends & Spirit Walker and we haven't seen WEEN perform any of those tracks live, EVER! Then there is the back catalogue, another six studio albums of eccentric genius including such anthems as Mutilated Lips, Waving My Dick in the Wind, Voodoo Lady, Piss Up A Rope, Push the Little Daisies, the list goes on.

But now the wait is over. Ladies and gentlemen, you wanted the best and now Feel are proud to bring you the best, WEEN, live this coming February.

And while it's unlikely we will see all the above listed gems in one sitting, no-one is going to be left disappointed after 2.5 hours plus of existential fun courtesy of WEEN.

WEEN

DATE: Tuesday Feb 26th

Gig: Wilco

Wilco

Wilco

Fourteen years into a career that has seen upheaval, growth, and triumph, acclaimed double-Grammy winners WILCO are to visit New Zealand in March; and following their appearance at the Bluesfest in Whitianga, will perform headline shows in Auckland and Wellington.

Formed in 1992 by Jeff Tweedy following the dissolution of his pioneering alt-country group Uncle Tupelo, Wilco have released six studio albums; a double live set; collaborated with Billy Bragg on an album (and a half) of Woody Guthrie compositions; been the subject of the documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart (which charted the creation of an album rejected by their record company but would be Wilco’s best-selling album worldwide); and published their own book of writing and artworks.

Wilco’s stylistic diversity has seen them called the “American Radiohead”, and the evolving band has never stayed static. Now, with the line-up that debuted on the Kicking Television: Live In Chicago album, Wilco has reached the pinnacle of their ensemble powers. According to Jeff Tweedy, “I’ve definitely felt inspired by all of the musicians I’ve been able to play with in Wilco, but in terms of finding a perfect scenario of living with and interacting with a band – on the road, and in the studio – this is a new feeling for me. If we all lived together, it would be like the Monkees.”

Wilco don’t necessarily roll down the street on oversized beds, but John Stirratt, Tweedy’s right-hand bass man since the days of Uncle Tupelo, believes the current line-up is the epitome of Wilco, defining the essence of what the band was always intended to be. On Sky Blue Sky (a New Zealand Top 40 album in 2007, and a nominee for the 2008 Grammy Awards), it’s not difficult to hear what he means: the guitar wizardry of celebrated experimentalist and guitar innovator Nels Cline, the beats and glockenspiel of Glenn Kotche; and the colours and shades of multi instrumentalists Pat Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen, means this is the most engaged and direct Wilco have appeared since Being There.

With many of the tour’s Australian shows already sold out, it is advisable to get in quickly for Wilco’s Auckland and Wellington shows to ensure tickets and avoid disappointment.
