Christan Pastors - In Sydney Mardi Gras

Photobucket

This has got to be a first for Sydney Mardi Gras - They have got Christian Pastors in the parade. This has bought mixed reactions from people - as you can imagine! Just to add to the politics their have been 100 Christian pastors who have signed an apology for their lack of welcome to gay community.

I've pasted a number of links here that you might wanna check out.

Gary Busey Is An Arse

Gary Busey was interviewed by an 11-year-old girl from Starzlife.com outside of an Oscar after-party and he was taking no shit. The girl asked him about young celebrities and Gary's brain sort of went haywire and he kept telling the girl to speak up and he didn't understand the question. When the words finally registered in his brain he immediately became the poet he is and went on and on about how Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton aren't celebrities.

He went on to say that, "Paris is a pathological liar in terms of what the heck she says on Larry King and what she doesn't do when she says it. That's a shameful thing." Gary is the truth teller of all truth tellers! I agree with everything that comes out of his dried up coke mouth.

The girl also asked him to give her a website a shout out and Gary said he doesn't give shout outs.

I was going through my history of the previous week, and this is some of the stuff I was checking out. Hayden Christensen will make us wonder if he is gay... (well I don't care if you are) he was recently the cover of details magazine. Have you seen the his new movie yet? Towleroad covered it check out the pics here and the video here.

I didn't realise the French were skinner. Just I had never had thought about it. Mind you anything that sounds French or has a French accent is so sexy anyways... Go here to see why the French can eat anything and still not get fat.

You have to check this out - Perez covers the latest saga's from Big Brother - America.

Amanda, who is hypoglycemic, collapsed after not getting enough nutrition. And then she started having seizures! And it was all caught on the live feeds!

Other houseguest Allison ended up having to go to in the ambulance too. Apparently Allison had a severe allergic reaction to something she ate and she started getting hives, her lips were swollen shut, etc.

Their status at the moment is completely up in the air. Nobody knows if they'll be back, if they're okay, or anything.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

Check the video here - WARNING! If you've never seen anyone having seizures this could be disturbing.

So You Think You Can Dance (AUST) - Rhys

This guy is such a darling! Just an amazing guy. If you haven't seen Rhys yet you should! He did a brilliant performance the other night... when I get I'll post it here. In the mean time check him out here in episode 2. And below that some of his biography. His my Myspace here.

If dance is about an entertainment factor, Rhys Bobridge's is smashing through the roof. Where to start with this absolutely fabulous Adelaide-born, Melbourne-based dancer? The fact he jokes that when he was born, he fell out of his mother and into the splits? What about fave colours listed as neon yellow and electric purple? Nah, let's go with what he reckons are his weaknesses; vanity ('I never met a mirror I didn't like') and anyone with a cheeky smile and a killer bod.

With this performer in the Top 20, rest assured: hilarity will ensue. Rhys, 26, started his career as a child model at age five for the agency Mostly Kids, where he worked on fashion shoots, TV commercials and runway shows.

He studied Dance, Drama and Voice from the age of seven to 16 at the Johnny Young Talent School in Adelaide, and performing locally at shopping centres, fetes and fairs in the school holidays. After a brief stint at the Victorian College of Arts Secondary School, he moved to Taiwan at age 17 for four-and-a-half months to perform in a theme park, Leofoo Village. Back in Australia he began work as an elf for children's entertainment group, The Fairies, which he still maintains a commitment to.

At age 20, Rhys left the city of churches for the culture capital of Australia, Melbourne. He now works as a commercial dancer/ performer, as well as a freelance make-up artist (he once did Deborah Lee Furness' make-up). He's also been working as a drag performer since he was 17, for corporate functions, night clubs and dance parties.

He describes it as "incredibly liberating to take on another persona and do things you wouldn't have the guts to as your everyday self". Liberated and gutsy – that's our Rhys! Stylistically, Rhys is a Jazz/ Commercial dancer and his background in various types of performance means he knows how to keep audiences' eyes trained to his every twist and every turn. Free, interpretive, stylised and sharp. Y'all ready for this?

Key quote: "I am fire - watch me burn up your screen!"

DNA #98

Photobucket
Introducing to you to this month's cover model, Chris Rockway. He's famous for his performances on a certain website where he identifies as straight but makes a living from getting, er, busy with the other blokes. Late last year he told us he'd never want to be at the bottom of the pack - you get our drift - but just before Christmas he did! Twice. With two different blokes. (What a thoughtful Christmas gift!) So DNA caught up with him again to get all the details, and this issue he spills the beans. See more here!

Gig: Rock 2 WGTN

C4 presents: Rock2WGTN

Rock 2 WGTN

Easter 2008 will see Wellington explode with some of the greatest legendary bands on the planet in a two-day double concert programme at the Westpac Stadium.

After the announcement of KISS - we can now confirm that OZZY OSBOURNE, LORDI, ALICE COOPER, WHITE SNAKE and POISON will also be gracing the stage at the 2 day festival in Easter 2008! This is set to be huge.

Wellington's Oscar-winning Weta Workshop has been drafted in to create special effects for the giant rock festival, that would include stage design for the whole festival, as well as developing a theme that has not yet been revealed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

80s glam rock band POISON is the final international act confirmed, playing as the big opening band of Sunday night. Called everything from “glam rock, “hair band”, “hair metal”— Poison is synonymous with classic 80’s power rock. Original members Bret Michaels, C.C. DeVille, Bobby Dall and Rikki Rockett are back together and rockin’ as good as they ever have. With a string of top hits like “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, “Nothin' But A Good Time", “Fallen Angel", “Unskinny Bop," the Loggins and Messina cover "Your Mama Don't Dance.”

Legendary Rock Icon, David Coverdale, the former lead singer with DEEP PURPLE brings his band WHITESNAKE to New Zealand for the very first time! Founded in the late 70’s by former Deep Purple lead singer David Coverdale, Whitesnake rocked the world throughout the 80’s & 90’s with their blues-influenced brand of metal.

ALICE COOPER will also play at the concert! Cooper gained notoriety after a 1969 concert incident led to him being reported, wrongly, to have bitten the head off a live chicken and drunk its blood on stage. But he continued to court controversy with his stage shows featuring electric chairs, fake blood and boa constrictors. His major hits include I'm Eighteen, School's Out and Welcome to My Nightmare.

AND....

2006 Eurovision song contest winning 'Monster Metal Band' - LORDI - are the next band set to invade Wellington. Hailing originally from Lapland the ‘masked’ five piece group has a very strong underground following in New Zealand and their addition to ROCK2WGTN will add a visual feast beyond imagination.

The Rocktacular festival will be one of the largest of its kind held in New Zealand. ROCK2WGTN in Wellington is the concert for the baby boomers and their kids alike and will appeal to more than one generation.

Counting Down Hero Party

Counting down to the HERO Party 2008

By Matt Akersten - 18th February 2008

Paul-Goodyear.jpg
Paul Goodyear from Barcelona
Since 1991, Auckland's HERO Party has been the Queen City's biggest gay night of the year.

It's moved around a lot - from Princes Wharf, to the Epsom Showgrounds, to the Auckland Town Hall (bathed in pink, with a rainbow flag on top!), to Studio/Galatos, to the St James Theatre… and now for 2008, the party heads into Queen Street's grand old lady The Civic on Saturday 23 February.

As usual, lots of different experiences will be offered up to please as many diverse partygoers as possible. There will be seven international DJs, multiple dance zones, tons of local talent, an outdoor smoking area and a separate women's space. Party-goers can also expect stunning full-colour laser and intelligent lighting, big-screen visuals and many other surprises.

hillary-copy.jpg
Dee-Za-Star says "Vote D.A.N.C.E.!"
Two elaborate shows will be on offer at the Civic's Wintergarden during the party. A Horny Fire Show will feature Tess Tickle and her friends including Buckwheat, Venus Mantrap, Zoe and Kola, with dancing boys Chris, Tane Mete and the Brazilian Dancers. Tess Tickle says it'll be a "fun, happy show with glamourous costumes and sexy dancing." Later, Dee-Za-Star and her friends will present Vote D.A.N.C.E. - a political rally-style appearance the Star describes as a progressive, theatrical, post modern, high concept drag show. "As elections are so hot this year all over the world, I wanted to take the piss out of the whole campaigning, polling, and rallying that comes with them - but of course with a funky disco edge," explains Dee-Za-Star. "It will not represent any party but that of the D.A.N.C.E. party. Random acts of campaign rallies, ridiculous rhetoric, baby kissing and photo ops will all lead to the climax at 3am main room, Civic Wintergarden."

International DJ's lined up for this year include: Dan Murphy from Sydney, Matt Steer from Brisbane, Miss Eleni from Melbourne, Paul Goodyear from Barcelona, Paul Heron from London, Ruby from Sydney and Stephen Simpson also from Sydney. They're supported by local DJ's Antony, DJ Brazil, DJ Dee, Donald Bennett, James Leuii, Justin Sane, Luke James, Marty, Mauri, Tania M and more.

MissEleniBNews.jpg
Miss Eleni from Melbourne
Called Shebar, the women's zone at this year's HERO Party is brought to you by Vixen+Vibe, organisers of the D.thing experience at HERO. Located upstairs at the Civic, the space will feature two lesbian DJs - DJ Miss Eleni from Melbourne and Auckland's DJ Dee, with video by VJ Vixen. There will be two shows during the night: Twisted Elegance is a drag act extraordinaire featuring Jak, Twistit and Killpussy. And Diva Warrior Princess will perform her powerful Warrior in Me with support from two superhero dancers.

The HERO Party is NZ's ultimate polysexual dance extravaganza - so whether you're gay, straight, bi, or undecided - who cares! This is a celebration of polysexual pride and diversity… see you at the Civic from 10pm on Saturday 23 February 2008.

Tickets are available from Ticketek (www.ticketek.co.nz and 0800 TICKETEK), or from DJ Station, Marvel Menswear and the Women's Bookshop.

The party goes until the sun rises at 6am - then head up to Kiss bar at 309 K' Road for their official HERO Party Recovery Champagne Breakfast at 6-11am.
